What kind of bugs are there?
Putting the fact aside that Jack's blood is poisonous to all insects, there are really very few insects around here. We do have our share of flies, but, for the most part, the birds and lizards seem to keep the insect population in check. We have had a couple malaria cases here, but that's mainly due to the fact that those individuals weren't taking their meds. The mosquitoes are really few and far between due to the dry climate.
Is the food good?
Not really. It's OK, but they always overcook the steaks and the lobster is a bit springy. It seems if you don't have a general officer living on your base, the gourmet meals just aren't as good as at other FOBs. Jack usually just forages for plant roots and fries up whatever insects he can find.
Can you watch TV?
Absolutely! We get several channels of what's called AFN (American Forces Network). They show almost every popular show on American cable television. We also get tons of sports, but, of course, Jack's favorite show is 24.
Do you have down time?
Sure, Jack does all sorts of things during his down time. He has to spend a lot of time cleaning blood off of his knife, but other than that, he reads, blogs and works out at the gym.
Do you get to email your family?
As often as I want to. We have internet in the office and in our rooms, so it's pretty easy to keep in touch.
Where do you sleep?
Anywhere that Jack can find a rock for a pillow. Heck Jack can sleep standing if he has to so his enemies always think he's watching 'em. But back on the FOB he sleeps in a 36' x 80' brick and mortar structure that's hardened so it can withstand rocket/mortar attacks. We also have normal single beds with mattresses here. Other FOBs may have only cots.
Do you have a cat?
Here Jack always keeps a trained attack tiger ready, but he does have a charcoal colored cat named Joey back at home.
Are you a commander or a soldier?
Yes. How else could Jack answer this question? Jack does it all, but he disguises himself during the day as a project engineer/construction manager. Our team takes care of building up the base.
Do you have water?
Lots of water. Especially bottled water. That's the only kind you really want to drink. Everything else is non-potable, but we can shower with it and use it for other personal hygiene.
PART II
Now for part two. Meet Jack's new best friend. His name is Blek, and he sure is a spunky sort (damn near tore my arm off!). It seems several of my teammates were questioning Jacks studliness, so Jack decided to go toe to toe with a military working dog just to shut them up. Well, after the picture below, you'll find four videos showing just how manly Jack is. He really showed that dog who's the boss.
Yeah, take that you...you huge, big, bad, ass-kicking ball of teeth and fur. And never come back here or Jack will do the same thing to you again (lord Jack hopes not)---Jack out!
