Well folks, it's official. Jack is due to come home in about a month. I plan on being back in St. Louis on July 25th. Of course, that's barring any delays in getting from here at FOB Salerno to Manas AB, Kyrgyzstan. No, Manas has not closed down yet. In fact, news from today says that a new agreement between the U.S. and Kyrgyzstan is going to their parliament for approval. Either way, we're coming back through Manas.
Now, more entertaining questions from the kids and answers from Jack....
11. Do you like hunting?
Does Jack like hunting...please! Jack is a born hunter. He hunts the Taliban like a dog on a soup bone, but when at home Jack hunts deer, ducks, geese, and whatever else he can find time to go after.
12. Are your parents alive?
Some people think Jack never had parents. He finds that rather insulting. Actually, Jack's parents are very alive and live in Cape Girardeau, Missouri (home of Rush Limbaugh).
13. Do you have a brother?
Yes, Jack has one younger brother and he's just as vicious as Jack! He lives in Dallas, Texas with his wife, Linnie, and their two awesome kids, Bailey and Brayden.
14. Do you have a sister?
Nope. A sister never would have survived Jack's wrath as a kid.
15. Do you have a baby?
Nope. Jack's been told many times that he shouldn't procreate. This world can only deal with one of him at a time.
16. Do you take breaks?
Jack is on duty 24x7. Haven't you watch his TV show? He has a direct line to the President for goodness sakes! He does, however, sneak in a Tuesday afternoon and a Friday morning when he can.
17. How does it feel being a soldier?
Feel? Soldiers don't feel. They're impervious to pain! But in rare moments of weakness, Jack is pretty proud to be not only defending America, but also attempting to help the Afghans enter the civilized world. It's really pretty depressing.
18. How does it feel to be protecting our country?
Jack loves the fact that he's taking the fight to the enemy and keeping them off of American soil. Even with the cost of this war, at least the enemy doesn't have the time or resources to even think about taking his eyes off of this country to take the fight back to our country. And we are slowly sandwiching them into the mountains.
19. Do you have fun doing your job?
Actually, this job is extremely frustrating. Between Afghan contractors who are on the take, unable to do the job, or doing some other stupid thing and military organizations that make construction difficult due to all of the rules and regulations that don't take into account a contingency environment, Jack's about to go postal. His job will be much more fun while he's getting paid to travel home.
20. Did you ever get hurt?
Come on! I'm Jack Bauer! When has Jack ever been incapacitated to the point where he can't do his job? Answer: Never! And lucky for the U.S. because who would single-handedly protect the country?
More questions answered next week......Jack out!
